Circa 1903. The Maples Inn, a “farm Victorian” bed and breakfast on Mount Desert Island, offers the feeling of becoming a resident of Bar Harbor at the turn of the century. Come and enjoy the simpler life of another time and leave the stress and care of today’s world behind.

The Maples Inn originally housed the wealthy summer visitors to Mount Desert Island. Located on an attractive residential tree lined street, the Inn’s location allows you to be away from the busy traffic of downtown Bar Harbor yet within walking distance of quaint boutiques, intimate restaurants and the surrounding national park and ocean. Relax on the front porch rockers with afternoon refreshments or snuggle in front of the living room fireplace during the cooler Autumn months.

Offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere, the Maples Inn has six distinctly decorated rooms, all with queen size beds and private attached baths with showers. Select a two room guest suite with fireplace and canopy antique bed or one of the guest rooms that features an antique wood, four poster bed. Other guest rooms feature cast-iron or brass beds with wicker filled sitting areas. Our Red Oak room boasts it’s own private treehouse deck, tucked away quietly in the surrounding tall maple trees.

Start each day at the Maples Inn with a hearty New England breakfast, served in our sun filled dining room. Your palate will be treated to scrumptious delights and you’ll have the opportunity to engage in good conversation with other Inn guests. Tasty home baked cookies and cakes are sure to please your afternoon appetite after an invigorating walk in the mountains or along the island’s rugged sea coast.

Acadia National Park, just five minutes away from our front door, offers a year round wilderness playground. Come and watch the breath taking sunset from atop Cadillac Mountain or the crashing waves at Schooner Head. The park has more than 120 miles of hiking trails, many with gorgeous coastal views. We will be happy to assist you in planning your day’s activities on our island.
