Chocolate Snickerdoodles

Ingredients

1 ½ cups sugar
½ cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
½ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cinnamon

Makes 4 dozen cookies

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°. In a large bowl, combine 1 ½ cups sugar and butter; beat until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and eggs; blend well. Add flour, cocoa, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt; mix well.
  2. In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons sugar and cinnamon, shape dough into 1-inch balls; roll in sugar-cinnamon mixture. Place 2 inches a part on ungreased cookie sheets.
  3. Bake at 400° F for 8-10 minutes or until set. Immediately remove from cookie sheets
